Bellevue High School Orchestra hosted a virtual clinic with the renowned composer and pianist, Yukiko Nishimura (Kyoto, Japan).
Students from Concert Orchestra and Sinfonia studied original compositions by Ms. Nishimura; 'Under a Winter Sky' and 'Ripples'. Each orchestra performed one of her original composition, then learned more about the background of each piece and also about what life is like for a professional composer. Each orchestra will be performing one of her works at the upcoming Winter Concert on December 14th.
Ms. Nishimura was born in Japan in 1967, and graduated from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1990. In 1991, she began private study with Dr. Alfred Reed at the University of Miami School of Music, and in 1993 she continued her studies with Dr. Richard Danielpour at Manhattan School of Music. She recently relocated to Los Angeles to be connected with her occupation as a film scorer and composer.
